About Checkers Legend

Checkers with an opponent that plays properly. You move on the diagonals, jump to capture, and chain a jump into another when the board allows it. The machine does the same, and it looks further ahead than most people do.

There is nothing here but the board, which is the appeal. Every loss traces back to a move you can find again. It plays upright at 600 by 800 on a phone or a desktop.

How to play

  1. Select one of your pieces to see where it can go.
  2. Move it diagonally to an open square.
  3. Jump an opposing piece to capture it, and keep jumping while you can.
  4. Take every enemy piece, or leave the computer with no legal move.

Controls

Tap or clickEverything. One input does the whole game.

Tips

  • Count what happens after your capture. A free jump is often bait for a longer one back.
  • Hold your back row as long as you can. It is what stops the computer from crowning a king.
