Nightmare Vacation puts Courage somewhere he does not want to be and asks you to get him through it. The game understands what the show was about: Courage is terrified the whole time and goes anyway, and the game keeps you moving forward into things you would rather avoid.
It is a side scrolling adventure with hazards rather than enemies. Avoiding is usually correct and fighting usually is not, which fits the character better than a combat game would have.

- Avoid the hazards. Most cannot be fought.
- Reach the end of each section.
