7.8out of 10One of the better licensed Flash games of its era. It looks like the show, which almost none of them did.
About Samurai Jack: Code of the Samurai
Code of the Samurai came out while Samurai Jack was on the air, and it is one of the few tie in games that got the look right. Flat colour, hard silhouettes, and almost no outline. It reads like a frame of the show, which in 2002 was a genuinely unusual thing for a browser game.
It is a side scrolling action game. Jack runs, jumps, crouches and cuts, and he picks up secret weapons along the way: shuriken, a chain blade and a fire attack. The enemies come at you while you are moving forward, so the game is about keeping momentum rather than about standing and trading hits.
How to play
- Move with the left and right arrows. Up jumps and down crouches.
- Cut with the space bar.
- Pick up the secret weapons you pass, and use them on the enemies you cannot reach.
Controls
| Left and right arrows | Move |
|---|---|
| Up arrow | Jump |
| Down arrow | Crouch |
| Space | Attack |
Tips
- Crouch under an attack rather than jumping over it. The jump takes longer to recover from.
- Save a secret weapon for an enemy above you. The sword only reaches what is beside Jack.
